Designed to allow a secure fixing, the clips <\/span><\/span>create<\/span><\/span>\u00a0adequate expansion gaps<\/span><\/span> from board-to-board<\/span><\/span>, while providing\u00a0<\/span><\/span>a discreet finish. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Our purpose-built fixings are comprised of a Starter Clip, two types of FastClips, and a range of colour-coded decking and trim screws:<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

While side-to-side expansion gaps are\u00a0created\u00a0with\u00a0the purpose-built decking clips<\/a>\u00a0outlined above,\u00a0it is important to allow correct expansion gaps at both the butt-ends of the boards and between perimeter boards and any surrounding\u00a0fixtures \u2013 such as walls or fences.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Expansion gaps for boards at butt-joins<\/span><\/b>: Allowing for an expansion gap of between 1-6mm is advised<\/span>\u00a0(this\u00a0<\/span>gap is\u00a0<\/span>dependent on the outside temperature)<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Expansion gaps for perimeter boards<\/span><\/b>: A<\/span>llowing a gap of at least 8mm between the edge\u00a0<\/span>of your deck\u00a0<\/span>and a solid\u00a0<\/span>fixture<\/span>\u00a0is advised<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Installing NeoTimber\u2019s Edging Options<\/h2><\/span>

Once you have laid your composite deck boards, the following step tends to involve fixing your edging solutions<\/a>. Covering up the exposed edges of your deck can be achieved in numerous ways and we offer three different edging solutions to help you achieve a finished look to your deck. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Skirting Trims<\/span><\/b>: Using our coloured trim screws<\/a>, this trim option can be fixed to either the edge of the deck board or the supporting subframe. Ensure the material is pre-drilled and counter-sunk prior to fixing.\u00a0<\/span>We do not advise using any type of glue or bond to fix\u00a0<\/span>this<\/span>\u00a0trim.<\/span><\/p>\n

Corner Trims<\/span><\/b>: Like the skirting trim, this is best secured with a trim screw<\/a>. Fixing this trim option from the top into the surface of the deck is best advised.\u00a0<\/span>Ensure the material is pre-drilled and counter-sunk prior to fixing.<\/span>\u00a0We do not advise using any type of glue or bond to fix this trim.<\/span><\/p>\n

Edge Board<\/span><\/b>: There are different ways of fixings our edge board and this is normally dependent on the orientation at which you lay this product. The edge board can be fixed on the underside with a starter clip<\/a> and then securely fixed on the opposite side with either a decking screw<\/a> or a\u00a0<\/span>FastClip<\/span>. When fixing the edge board with a decking screw, be sure to pre-drill the material.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>While\u00a0<\/span>fixing your edging usually comes after the point that you have laid your composite deck boards<\/a>, <\/span>it\u00a0<\/span>is\u00a0<\/span>not always the case, especially for edge board installation.
