190 Metres Of Grey Slatted Composite Fencing Transforms A Modern Garden

Project Background

The homeowners embarked on a complete garden boundary transformation to improve the privacy, security and overall appearance of their outdoor space.

The existing fencing had become tired and dated. It no longer complemented the property's contemporary architecture or provided the consistent screening the homeowners wanted. Replacing it presented an opportunity to create a more attractive boundary while improving the garden's sense of privacy and enclosure.

From a design perspective, the new fencing needed to balance clean architectural lines with a finish that would enhance the property's exterior. The chosen colour and profile also needed to work naturally with the existing landscaping rather than overpowering the garden.

With approximately 190 linear metres of boundary to complete, durability and maintenance were equally important. The homeowners wanted a long-lasting alternative to traditional timber fencing that would not require regular painting, staining or sealing to preserve its appearance.

Project Requirements

The new residential fencing system needed to satisfy several practical and visual requirements:

  • Improve privacy and screening throughout the garden
  • Create a consistent finish across 190 linear metres of boundary
  • Complement the property's contemporary architectural style
  • Introduce clean horizontal lines and a modern slatted appearance
  • Provide dependable resistance to moisture, rot and warping
  • Reduce the maintenance associated with traditional timber fencing
  • Retain an attractive finish through changing British weather conditions

Our Composite Fencing Proposal

NeoTimber® supplied 190 linear metres of Slatted composite fencing in Grey to create a modern, private and low-maintenance garden boundary.

The Slatted profile was selected for its clean horizontal lines and contemporary three-slat design. Although supplied as a composite board, its carefully formed surface recreates the appearance of individually installed timber battens, producing a consistent architectural finish without the upkeep associated with natural wood.

The Grey colourway introduced a neutral, modern tone that worked effectively with the property's exterior and surrounding landscaping. Its understated appearance allowed the fencing to define the perimeter while providing a complementary backdrop for plants, lawns and other garden features.

Using one board profile and colour across the full 190-metre boundary also created a strong sense of visual continuity, helping the garden feel more coordinated, private and complete.

Creating a More Private Garden

Privacy was a central consideration throughout the project. The new fencing needed to provide dependable screening while retaining the refined appearance expected from a contemporary garden design.

The boards use a tongue-and-groove profile that allows them to slot securely together, creating a continuous boundary without the openings that can develop when traditional timber panels deteriorate or warp.

This consistent construction improved the garden's sense of enclosure and created a more comfortable environment for relaxing, entertaining and everyday family life.

The strong horizontal lines also helped define the proportions of the garden, giving the completed boundary a purposeful architectural quality rather than treating the fencing as a purely functional feature.

Why Slatted Composite Fencing?

Traditional timber fencing can require regular maintenance to protect it from moisture and weathering. Over time, untreated or poorly maintained boards may rot, warp, split or lose their original appearance.

NeoTimber® Slatted fencing is manufactured from capped wood-polymer composite. Its protective outer surface offers improved resistance to moisture, staining and UV exposure while helping the boards retain their colour and finish.

The boards will not rot, warp or splinter and do not require routine painting, staining or sealing. General cleaning is typically all that is needed, giving homeowners more time to enjoy their garden and less time maintaining its boundary.

Alongside its practical benefits, the Slatted range provides the uniformity required for larger installations. Across a 190-metre perimeter, its repeatable profile and consistent dimensions helped create a cleaner result than would typically be achieved using individual timber slats.

The Completed Garden Transformation

The completed installation replaced the tired existing boundary with 190 linear metres of contemporary grey composite fencing. The new system created a more private and welcoming outdoor environment while providing a strong visual framework for the surrounding garden.

Its horizontal slatted appearance introduced architectural interest without dominating the space, while the neutral Grey finish complemented the property's modern exterior and the natural colours found throughout the landscaping.

By choosing capped composite fencing, the homeowners gained a durable boundary designed to maintain its appearance with substantially less upkeep than traditional timber.

The project demonstrates how residential composite fencing can deliver more than privacy alone. With the right profile and colour, a garden boundary can become an integral design feature that improves the appearance, usability and long-term enjoyment of an outdoor space.
