Add a touch of the timeless to your home with composite horizontal cladding.

Cladding is fast becoming the most popular way to add style to your home’s exterior. The historical new builds of the 70’s, with their timber cladding have, in many cases, been stained dark to preserve them or have been replaced by uPVC. Both have their drawbacks. Timber needs constant upkeep and uPVC yellows and becomes brittle over time. The alternative is composite cladding and laid in a horizontal orientation, it is certain to offer an exceptional facade to any home setting.

Composite Horizontal Siding Offers Traditional Aesthetic

The most common way of installing cladding is with a horizontal design. A horizontal layout gives the illusion of width so can work extremely well with a narrow house. Another way you can approach a horizontal composite cladding design is to only part-clad your wall. Cladding just the first floor, or just the ground floor in a ‘half-and-half’ design can be really effective. Look at our cladding visualiser for more design ideas.

Horizontal Composite Cladding Installation Is Simple

To install horizontal cladding, affix timber or plastic battens vertically to form your subframe. Boards are easily fixed using our simple installation system. Just screw our starter clips to the battens, in a straight line, rest your first board onto the clips and drill through the board to attach it to each batten. Whilst a timber drill bit should suffice for this, we would recommend using a Tungsten Carbide Tip (TCT) bit to ensure the bit is not blunted by the composite material when cutting. Once the first board is fixed, it’s simple to connect the board in, using the tongue and groove system attaching the edge of each board to the battens in turn. Just ensure that you countersink the screw holes to ensure a clean grip for the tongue and groove system.
