When incorporating composite railing kits into your space, there are a lot of things you will need to consider. There are practical questions, such as how many runs your space will need, to more design-based queries, such as what colour you should make your composite deck top rail. In this article, we unpack the process of ordering balustrades from us and highlight everything you will need to know before purchasing, from requesting samples to the final delivery.

What Are Our Composite Railing Boards Made From?

Our composite railing boards are made from a mixture of metal components, surrounded by a composite shell. This helps to give it a more natural, subtle look, but with more structural stability. We use capped composite for our composite balustrade posts and composite deck top rail, giving the composite wood railing system greater protection from the effects of weathering and UV fading. These cover the metal framework beneath and work in tandem with our metal fixings, post caps, and spindles. This composite railings for decking system is vastly superior in terms of longevity and maintenance requirements to timber balustrade alternatives, which have to be treated with preservatives and regularly painted.

We have designed our composite railing systems to be adaptable and modular so that it can fit into the confines of any outdoor project. They can be installed onto concrete, onto decking boards, and at an angle, so it can work as a bannister for any outdoor steps. It is also available in 5 rich, premium colours (antique, teak, chocolate, charcoal, and grey), that are colour-matched to the rest of our composite range (namely our decking, cladding, and fencing), all without picking up a paintbrush. To learn more about the applications of our composite railing systems, you can explore our design ideas page from our inspiration drop-down menu, as well as read our installation resources.

How Do You Plan Your Composite Wood Railing Project?

We have tried to make the process as simple as possible when ordering components for our composite railing systems. You can use our online composite balustrade calculator to get a quick estimate of the requirements of your project. Our composite railing systems come supplied with 1.8m long composite railing boards. To work out how many of these you will need to complete your project, enter the linear metreage and the number of continuous runs you are planning for your proposed build into the calculator. Please note; that the calculator only makes an approximation of your requirements, and we would recommend talking to one of our dedicated sales team prior to any purchasing.

If you want to know how a composite railing system will look before you make any commitments, you can click through our digital balustrade visualiser, or order free samples. Whilst our wood composite railing balustrades can be built as a DIY project, again, we would recommend choosing one of our approved installers to build the project for you, as they will have more experience working with the material. Adding wastage requirements to your order can also help to cover any miscalculations or mistakes when installing your NeoTimber® composite railing system.

It is an adaptable, modular system, able to be fitted on top of concrete, decking boards, or angled to make decking step bannisters. It is also available in a range of high-quality colours, dyed into the material itself, that negates the need to reapply layers of paint to your balustrades to keep them looking their best.  To plan your composite railing system, you can contact our sales team, order samples, and use our online calculator. Finally, all of our balustrades are delivered by our own team, to ensure a greater care is taken to look after your materials.
