The benefits of capped composite cladding.

In the world of composite building manufacture, a great deal of attention has been paid to the development of higher performing materials. The pursuit of greater fade-resistance, waterproofing and durability, whilst still retaining a beautiful wood-like aesthetic, is a fine balancing act.

With our latest range of capped composite cladding products (the Deluxe and Slatted ranges), however, we feel we offer the most complete solution of its kind. Here we list just a few of the features of NeoTimber’s capped composite cladding:

capped composite cladding

Fade-Resistant

Our first-generation traditional composite cladding had a built in UV inhibitor which allowed boards to weather naturally initially and then locked in at a certain point ensuring boards were not completely bleached by exposure to the sun. The second incarnation was a capped cladding material with a higher density of UV inhibitors which completely locked out ultraviolet light. By doing this, we were able to ensure that no fading would take place on your boards, giving you a cladding board which retains its colour throughout its lifespan.

Waterproofing

The primary issue with timber is that it absorbs water. Because it is no longer a tree, it retains that water rather than using it for growth, resulting in fungus, rot and erosion. Composite cladding strives to reduce the amount of water absorption to extend the life of the cladding boards. Composite timber is a hybrid blend made from reused wood fibres and recycled plastic bottles. The plastic polymers coat the wood providing protection against moisture. Our capped composite range is part of the second generation of NeoTimber® products. Using this, we cocoon the organic timber/plastic composite in a capping of solid plastic. This hard plastic shell prevents moisture from penetrating, ensuring longer life for the boards.

Deep, Embossed Woodgrain Option

In the pursuit of authentic looking composite, NeoTimber® have developed a deep, woodgrain profile, designed to emulate the medullary rays and knots found in timber. These rays form a wide ‘V’ at the centre of the board with the lines fanning out to thinner rays at the top and bottom. The woodgrain pattern has a rough, textured, matte-finish with the grooves revealing darker shades beneath the primary colour of the board, giving an authentic, timber-like look.

Stylish, Slatted Option

Our premium product within the capped composite cladding family is our Slatted range. Cladding can be plain and functional or bold and ostentatious. NeoTimber® Slatted cladding tends towards the more expressive side. Suitable for fencing or exterior walls, Slatted cladding is striking in its uniqueness. A rare and confident choice, Slatted composite cladding can be installed horizontally or vertically. Depending on the cladding colour you choose, you can convey anything from Scandinavian rustic charm to ultra-modern chic, it is entirely up to you.

Chocolate a traditional dark timber-effect. Antique is dual-tone, a natural stone tone, inlaid with hints of charcoal for that authentic antique oak look. Charcoal is dark, stark and stunning and emulates the effect of the highly trending charred timber cladding. Teak is a unique look, its’ warm honey tone reminiscent of premium cedar.
