The benefits of NeoTimber’s weather resistant cladding and fade resistant cladding over timber alternatives.

Timber cladding looks stunning. Emulating the look of a North American timber frame house, cladding has grown in popularity here in the UK. Unfortunately, timber is prone to fading and warping after long exposure to UV light and rainy conditions. The natural oils in timber cladding react to these elements causing the pigmentation to lose colour. The effect of this is such that staining and treating your timber can only pause the inevitable erosion briefly.

NeoTimber’s composite cladding is resistant to the effects of weathering, giving you the quality assurance of protection against the elements for many years. We engineer our fade resistant cladding with a finely tuned balance of UV inhibitors to prevent fading. Our traditional composite Classic range is designed to bleach slightly to a more weathered look whereas the more weather resistant cladding ranges: capped composite Deluxe and Slatted cladding retain their colour throughout their long lifespan.

Capped Composite Cladding Just Doesn’t Fade

Some homeowners like their cladding to look the same crisp, sharp colour all the time. For this reason, NeoTimber® have developed UV inhibitors and a strong plastic coating for their capped composite cladding products. These properties and features create a superior cladding board which not only resists fading and water absorption but actually prevents it.

Both our Deluxe and Slatted ranges are equipped with this capped finish technology meaning that they remain bright, crisp and un-weathered throughout their lifespan.

Traditional Composite Cladding – Designed To Fade, Naturally

Visual Representation Of The Weathering Process

Part of the appeal of timber cladding is that faded, sun-bleached look which gives it a soft and natural look of driftwood. Our traditional composite cladding products are engineered with UV inhibitors which react slowly to sunlight and allow the oils in the composite material to fade gradually, up to a certain point and then cease fading. This process gives your cladding that lived-in, homely feel without bleaching all of the colour from your boards.

Our Classic line consists of 60% timber and is not shielded by a protective shell, unlike our capped options. Therefore, it’s important to be aware that NeoTimber® Classic cladding will fade. In the first 3-6 months, this cladding will lighten to a ‘weathered colour tone’. This means that the colour tone of the cladding boards you receive will initially be darker than after the weathering process. As the colour of the board stabilises, the rate of colour change will remain minimal. To give you a true representation of how you can expect your deck boards to look, we only display images of the Classic boards on our website that have reached their weathered state.
