GENERAL

What is composite fencing?2023-08-11T14:11:58+01:00

Composite fencing describes fencing made from recycled plastic and timber fibres, designed to both look and feel like real timber, whilst keeping the longevity and sturdiness of plastic. NeoTimber’s fencing is a fully modular system, which gives you the freedom to adapt your fencing requirements to your space without any issues. From installing the boards onto either hard or soft ground, to retrofitting your existing concrete fencing, to including a touch of class with decorative screens or composite gate options, we have you covered.

What are the benefits of composite fencing?2023-08-03T20:11:35+01:00

Composite fencing is far longer lasting than traditional timber alternatives, and will not need to be treated, painted, or preserved to keep it protected from the elements. Unlike many on the market, NeoTimber’s composite products are made up of a capped composite material which offers various features and benefits. This 2nd generation design offers a much higher level of stain and fade resistance and gives a contemporary, striking look to your garden that lasts year-after-year.

Is composite fencing better than wood?2023-08-03T20:13:26+01:00

Whilst it looks initially impressive, traditional timber fencing is susceptible to mould, algae growth, and eventual decomposition. In contrast, composite fencing is weatherproof, designed to last for 25 years in residential applications. The capped composite design ensures its finish and colour will remain for several years and will not require any heavy maintenance or treatment along the way.

Does NeoTimber® also sell composite decking?2023-08-03T20:14:15+01:00

We also sell matching composite decking boards, as well as composite cladding, and composite balustrades. You can find all these products in their own appropriate sections of our website.

PRICING & PURCHASING

Why is composite fencing more expensive than timber?2023-08-03T20:15:47+01:00

Composite materials are made from a mixture of recycled wood and plastic fibres, which have to be processed to mould the material. This involved process is more expensive than felling timber, so this naturally increases the price of the composite fencing material accordingly.

How much does composite fencing cost? 2024-02-29T10:11:20+00:00

NeoTimber’s 1.8m composite panel sets start at £250.00 inc. VAT. However, the modular nature of the system means there are numerous different applications that the solution can be used for, which inevitably effects pricing. Our products can be purchased in both panel and component form, so we recommend checking out our handy fencing pricing calculators for more of an in-depth idea on how much our fencing products will cost you. INSTALLATION

How do you install composite fencing?2023-08-03T20:07:12+01:00

NeoTimber’s composite fencing is component based, making it a modular, customisable fencing option. The individual composite fence slats can be slotted into place into the composite posts, before being easily slatted on top of one another with our tongue and groove system. There are, however, a number of different fence post applications for these materials, which does impact how installation is conducted. For more information, visit our fencing installation resources.

Can composite fencing be installed on pre-existing concrete posts?2023-08-11T14:17:08+01:00

The individual composite fencing boards can be easily fitted and fixed to pre-existing concrete posts. The concrete fence post insert, used in conjunction with our fence board capping rails, offers homeowners and businesses the opportunity to renovate and retrofit previous fencing builds.

Can composite fencing be installed on pre-existing timber posts?2023-08-11T14:17:52+01:00
Can composite fencing be installed on hard ground?2023-08-11T14:19:21+01:00

NeoTimber’s composite post set for hard ground gives you the ability to install your composite fencing into hard ground, using a galvanised steel insert that is securely bolted to the ground.

Can composite fencing be installed on soft ground?2023-08-11T14:20:46+01:00

NeoTimber’s composite post set for soft ground gives you the ability to install your composite fencing into soft ground. The galvanised steel post support is sunk into the ground and secured with post mix concrete, before the composite fence post sits over the support, acting as a sleeve.

Can I install a composite fence panel lower than 1.8m?2023-08-03T20:31:40+01:00

While NeoTimber® supplies their fencing product in a 1.8m panel, it is possible to purchase fencing components that allow for installation of smaller panels. Should you wish to purchase materials for a fence lower than the 1.8m panels we offer as standard, we advise that you start by calculating your requirements on our handy fencing component calculator.

TECHNICAL

What materials are used to manufacture NeoTimber® composite fencing?2023-08-03T20:37:46+01:00

NeoTimber’s composite fence panels are primarily made up of a wood plastic composite material. The composite fence boards and composite fence posts that we offer are a premium, capped composite material (which is unlike many composite fencing solutions in the market). This product offers a much higher level of stain and fade resistance than traditional composite products. Our composite fence boards and posts are coupled with a series of aluminium components, such as our capping rails, decorative screens, composite gates and post caps. All of these products are powder-coated to colour match our composite products. We also supply our fence post supports in a strong, galvanised steel. These act as anchors and are sat within the post or ground so are not visible once the fencing is installed.

Is composite fencing resistant to staining?2023-08-03T20:42:04+01:00

Not all composite fencing on the market is, but our NeoTimber® composite fencing is completely resistant to staining. The capped composite surface of NeoTimber’s composite fencing means that any staining can be simply washed or scrubbed away with hot, soapy water.

How do I calculate how much composite fencing I need?2023-08-03T20:44:44+01:00

Using our composite fencing calculator, you can make a rough estimate about how many composite fencing panels you will need for your project. Measure the linear metreage length needed and input this information into the calculator. Please note that none of NeoTimber’s material calculators account for wastage, and we would advise making an allowance of between 5-10%.

AFTER CARE

How do I clean composite fencing?2023-08-03T20:46:51+01:00

Like all NeoTimber® composite products, our composite fencing is low maintenance and incredibly easy to clean, needing only a basic wipe down with warm, soapy water every six months or so.

Can I paint composite fencing?2023-08-03T20:51:19+01:00

No, you should not paint composite fencing. Paints have solvents which will not react well to the capped surface. Thankfully, our fencing is fade resistant so won’t need re-painting, and comes supplied in five premium colours, antique, charcoal, teak, chocolate and grey.

Can I use a pressure washer on composite fencing?2023-08-03T20:53:40+01:00

You can use a pressure washer for any particularly stubborn stains but be careful not to hold the nozzle too close to the surface of the composite fencing profile, as this can cause damage. Note that we recommend using the fan attachment on your pressure washer as to not cause any damage to the fencing products.

Can composite fencing be sanded?2023-08-03T20:55:06+01:00

NeoTimber® fencing should not need to be sanded. Any staining can be simply hosed or scrubbed off the surface of the capped boards.
