Concrete meets composite – an unlikely match, but a welcome one
Let’s say the previous owners of your new house had a fence installed, complete with concrete posts. You want to upgrade the old wood to NeoTimber’s composite fencing, but aren’t sure if there’s any way to so do. Worry not! We’re here to walk you through how our concrete post inserts spare you from having to replace your structurally sound posts.
Here at NeoTimber®, we understand the struggles that accompany having to work around legacy fencing. You didn’t get to choose your garden’s border, and now you feel stuck with it. It’s for this reason that we designed our composite fencing range to be as customisable as possible. Boasting a modular, component-based system, we provide all of the tools needed to adapt your concrete posts. Today, we look into the finer details – how our concrete post inserts make mounting individual composite fence slats a walk in the park.
Modular Components For NeoTimber® Composite Fencing
More often than not, timber boards tend to come as a pre-built package with concrete posts. This ends up limiting its versatility, making it a pain for owners to transport when they move. So, that means you’re left having to manage it. NeoTimber’s fencing panels, however, come in individual components. Now, we know how that sounds, but we promise it’s all for your benefit. Through this unique system, you can play around with your imagination to create a personalised garden perimeter. Whatever your standards may be, our composite fencing is certain to live up to them.
This all comes as a result of the tongue-and-groove nature of our individual slats. All you need to do is outfit your pre-existing concrete posts with NeoTimber’s concrete post inserts, and you’re good to go. Each panel will slot right in, and you even have the option to include a trellis top if you’re feeling fancy. We’ve done our best to unlock the potential of composite fencing, and it shows.
Introducing NeoTimber® Concrete Fence Post Inserts
We’ve done a lot of talking about our concrete post inserts. But what exactly are they? As the name suggests, these inserts are designed to be laid against the surface of any pre-installed concrete post. This grants you a stable channel in which your new composite boards will sit. Complete with a fence board capping rail to hold your stacked panels in place, these concrete post inserts offer plenty of versatility. And, just like our decorative fence screens, each insert is made from marine grade aluminium, powder coated to match the colour of your boards.
However, the customisation doesn’t end there. Say, for instance, you find that our composite boards are too long for the space between your concrete posts. No worries – you can easily cut them down to size. We recommend using a circular saw to do so; that way, you’ll get the cleanest, straightest cut to guarantee a perfect fit.
The Advantages Of Retrofitting Composite Fencing With Concrete Fence Posts
Retrofitting your existing fencing is an especially clever idea if your panels have been fitted onto a hard ground surface. This is simply because such installations can be a terrible pain to remove. Instead, choosing to use the current fencing posts immediately reduces the waste of any garden rejuvenation project. In the long term, you’ll save money and time – two precious elements that none of us particularly want to throw away.
Replacing either a timber or concrete panel also has a visual advantage. Timber, though an attractive material, is susceptible to the effects of moisture. This tends to manifest through unsightly decomposition. Not exactly what you want for an outdoor space that’s meant to capture the beauty of the natural world. The opposite problem is true of concrete. Though we won’t argue that it lasts, it’s rarely fitted to the garden aesthetic. By replacing these panels with composite material, you can retain the longevity and structural support, all while keeping your fencing looking fantastic.
