Weed Proof Membrane

Weeds are the quickest way to undo good work outdoors. NeoTimber® Weed Proof Membrane is a tough, woven weed control fabric that stops unwanted growth before it starts. It goes down once and keeps working season after season, so your decking, paths and borders stay the way you built them.

Each roll of weed proof membrane measures 2m wide by 20m long and covers 40m². That's enough for most decking projects, garden paths or gravel areas from a single roll, with fewer joins and less waste. For larger jobs, rolls overlap easily to cover any area.

This heavy-duty weed membrane is made from 100gsm woven polypropylene and UV-stabilised to resist breaking down in sunlight. It won't tear when you walk on it during installation or when gravel and aggregates are spread over it. It holds up to frost, heavy rain and summer heat, so it keeps doing its job long after it's covered over.

Blocking weeds doesn't mean sealing off the ground. The woven structure of this landscape fabric lets rainwater and air pass straight through to the soil below. Water drains away instead of pooling, and the ground underneath stays healthy, while light is kept out so weeds can't take hold.

It's the ideal weed membrane for decking and the natural partner for NeoTimber® composite decking. Laid over prepared ground before the subframe goes in, it stops weeds pushing up through the board gaps and keeps the void under your deck clean and free-draining. It works just as well as a weed barrier under gravel, slate chippings, bark, artificial grass, paving and planted borders.

Installing weed proof membrane is simple whether you're a professional landscaper or a weekend DIYer. Clear and level the ground, then roll the membrane out. Cut it to shape using the woven-in green guide lines for straight, accurate cuts, and pin it down with our Weed Proof Membrane Plastic Mat Pegs (sold separately). Overlap joins by at least 150mm and you're ready for decking, stone or mulch on top. No chemicals and no ongoing spraying, just lasting weed control.
