WPC siding, or composite cladding, gives you all the benefits of real wood, without the upkeep.
WPC siding (another term for composite cladding) is a fantastic choice for decorating the exterior of your outdoor project. Composite products are made from a mixture of timber fibres and recycled plastic, taking the strengths of both materials into their makeup. This means our cladding range has the long-life and low-maintenance properties afforded by plastic, mixed with the look and feel of real, natural timber. In this article, we explore these advantages in more detail, explaining how a WPC siding project can still look like natural wood, without the hassle. Let’s take a look…
No Painting, No Staining
Maintenance work with timber cladding can rapidly become a tiresome, time-consuming undertaking. The problem is, that without proper upkeep, timber cladding will gradually deteriorate, both visually and structurally. Without proper staining with paint and preservatives, mildew and mould can become an enormous problem, causing warping and splintering. Furthermore, due to the continued exposure to sunlight, the colour of timber cladding can soon fade. It is likely that you have seen bleached, pale, timber cladding, that looks aged and worn well before its time. This is either cladding that has not been effectively treated prior to installation or a build that has not been kept up to scratch with regular layers of preservatives.
In contrast, the Deluxe and Slatted cladding options from our composite WPC siding is completely weatherproof, owing to the capped plastic surface that wraps around the composite core of the material. This helps to lock out water, meaning that moisture cannot get within the boards to cause warping, rotting, or splintering. All of our capped WPC siding is also imbued with UV inhibitors, which minimise the effects of fading from sunlight. You can choose from 8 rich, gorgeous colours, antique, teak, charcoal, grey, and chocolate, and rest easily knowing that the colour will last. Though some maintenance is involved with keeping composite cladding looking its best, these are easy, quick jobs when compared to timber alternatives. All our WPC siding will need is an occasional hose-down, every 6 months or so.
Sanded Or Woodgrain Textures
Our Deluxe cladding is etched with a realistic woodgrain texture, allowing you to retain the look and feel of real timber, without compromising on the longevity of the material. Unlike with timber, this deep woodgrain effect will remain consistent, owing to the fact that you do not need to sand or plane composite cladding. For a cheaper option, we also sell our Classic composite cladding, which has a more sanded texture. However, it is important to note that our Classic range is not capped with an extra plastic layer, and may be more susceptible to fading than the other capped products in our range. Both textures give our cladding a more natural appearance, but allow you to skip the time-consuming upkeep.
Like our composite decking, fencing, and balustrade ranges, all of our WPC siding material is supported by an unbeatable warranty; 25 years for residential projects, and 10 years for commercial builds. This allows you to enjoy the naturalistic aesthetic of real wood, without worrying about its eventual deterioration.
Slatted Cladding Options
If you want a smarter, more modern design, we recommend specifying our Slatted cladding option from our WPC siding range. Our Slatted cladding is designed to appear like stacked, thin timber battens. This gives it a linear, contemporary appearance, perfect for cladding the outside of a business or an outdoor room extension. Though it does not possess the woodgrain texture of our Deluxe boards, the Slatted boards have a subtle brushed effect, which helps to give it a more realistic appearance. Each of these Slatted boards has 4 of the fake, stacked timber battens within it, making it far quicker and easier to achieve this linear effect than with a timber alternative.
As well as a range of different textures to choose from, composite WPC siding allows for wider possibilities of customisation, including the direction of how the cladding is installed. Composite cladding can easily be installed both vertically and horizontally, with both options creating a stylish finish. You can check out our digital visualiser page to see how the different colours and directions could look, or peruse our ideas page for more suggestions.
