Project Background
The Lakeside Pavilion located in the heart of Queens Park, Crewe is a recreational space that boasts panoramic views of the park’s surrounding gardens and lake. This space has served the community for a number of years, and in 2017, the council made the decision to refurbish the area, replacing an existing timber decking area that had severely warped. The damage was so bad in fact, park authorities were forced to cordon-off the area due to health and safety concerns. A core requirement for the project was to source a long-life, maintenance-free and hard-wearing replacement for the area. While a number of options were considered, it was vital that an affordable solution to the issue was met.
Our Proposal
Our Classic Grey board jumped out to our sales team as the perfect product for the project. It’s hard-wearing, solid construction provided the strength required to withstand a high footfall of visitors, while its composite make-up ensured resistance to the warping (an issue that had plagued the previous timber decking solution) – what’s more, the client loved it! While the slip resistance of the solution remained a high priority due to the nature of the install, we suggested the client opt for installing the boards with the grooved-side upwards – ensuring that the most anti-slip texture was provided. The result was a safe, anti-slip deck flooring solution that provided a contemporary upgrade to the pre-existing solution, while not costing the earth.
