Commercial – Picnic Tables

Project Background

We recently worked with a countryside hostel, who had become frustrated by the upkeep involved with their timber picnic tables, and as a result, were looking for a replacement that was easier to look after. We spoke to one of the managers of the hostel, who had this to say: “Our space is really exposed to the elements. In the winter or when it rains, we have to store our timber furniture under shelter or plastic sheets to protect them, which was becoming an inconvenience to our staff.” The new replacements had to maintain the natural, rustic aesthetic of the original timber table sets, and be lightweight enough to move regularly to accommodate guests.

Our Proposal

The purchaser for the hostel wanted some variety in the tables used for the space, in keeping with the eclectic and individualistic design of the hostel space itself. As a result, three A-Frame tables were chosen, as well as one Walkthrough picnic table and one Round Backless picnic table. A light grey was chosen to match the lighter tone of the stonework and patio space. We asked the manager for further comments:

“It’s a great space for our visitors to sit out, enjoy a beer, and relax in the countryside,” she said. “And crucially, it’s less of a task for my staff to clean them if any food or drink is spilled.”
