Composite Decking With A Poolside View
Project Background
Mike Williams is the owner and proprietor of MRW Builders, based in Tonbridge. 20 years ago, Mike built and installed an outdoor pool and surrounding deck for a large private residence in Cranbrook. Unfortunately, after two decades of wear and tear, the original timber decking was looking rather sorry for itself. The decking area was positioned in a prime sun trap and therefore had been subjected to extended periods of exposure to harsh sunlight. Over time, the original boards had warped and faded badly.
The new decking pool surround should be a direct replacement for the old, and be self-draining, slip-resistant, fade-resistant and require limited to no maintenance. The deck boards needed to be hard-wearing and to seamlessly blend with the idyllic environment of the garden, pool and adjacent courts.
Our Proposal
After finding us online, we recommended our antique-coloured Deluxe-range composite decking to Mike to replace the tired timber decking. Our Deluxe deck board is made from our proprietary capped composite material, meaning it is impervious to moisture and fading from UV light. Like all NeoTimber® products, the Deluxe decking range is designed to be easy to grip with deep, embossed woodgrain, perfect for use by a pool. Upon seeing various decking samples, the client chose our boards over Millboard, as they felt they represented significantly better value for money.
The new antique boards managed to combine modern, crisp, design with timeless, effortless class. The colour blend of natural stone, light oak and charcoal accent gives the deck a look of seamless sophistication. Mike found the boards easy to install and work with in general and was pleased by the simplicity of our integral pedestal and WPC joist subframe system. Fitting the deck was a simple process and presented no unexpected issues, unlike some other composite decking products he had previously worked with.
