Home Garden – Essential Teak

Project Background

Connor O’Shea and his firm Garden Innovations were briefed to create a cosy sitting area with plenty of privacy for a nice private family area. The existing garden design was dominated by the stark red brick of a wall one side, so it was felt that soft natural tones would mute this and make the garden a more restful place to spend free time.

The client wanted to maximise their space whilst minimising maintenance. The walls of the garden space were approximately 6 feet high only, and so any deck or patio would need to be low-lying to allow for head height.

Our Proposal

Connor specified white porcelain stone for paving around the patio doors and for the pathway. In addition, timber slatted cladding was fixed to the wall on the left-hand side of the garden, visibly breaking up the continuity of the red brick and adding more natural shades. Following this, a composite deck was built. Excavated to be installed at ground level, the Essential teak deck was designed to be a continuation of the white porcelain patio with colours blending with the timber slatting. A roofed pergola was added over the composite deck area for increased privacy and to create a cosy nook as a seating area.
