Upgrade your timber subframe with NeoTimber’s long-Life, high-performance decking joist tape.

Why do you need to use decking joist tape? Let us tell you… Laying composite decking onto a poorly prepared timber subframe is a little like building a house on sand. While we generally believe that opting for composite joists or recycled plastic subframe solutions is the best way forward for decking installations, we do still see the merits of using timber as a subframe for composite decking installs.

After all, it is a very diverse, low-cost, and accessible material that is used in a number of outdoor applications and remains the most popular solution for our customers.

NeoTimber’s decking joist tape is a solution that is designed to enhance timber’s longevity and overall performance and will better prepare your subframe for what the elements have to throw at it.

Why Opt For NeoTimber’s Decking Joist Tape?

Joist tape essentially provides users with more peace of mind as it is designed to enhance the longevity and performance of timber subframes. Manufactured in the UK – the product is designed to protect timber deck substructures by providing a completely waterproof seal on the surface of the timber joistWithout this, exposure to the elements can result in significant deck frame weathering – and will eventually result in a rotting timber joist.

The most common area for this damage to occur is where the deck boards come in contact with the deck substructure. With a permanent adhesive bond for 50-years and a 25year guarantee, this massively adds to the life of your deck frame as it seals the joist where it is most vulnerableWhat’s more, the decking joist tape has been tested with all timber treatments, so you can rest easy that the application will be hassle-free and simple.

NeoTimber® decking joist tape is a non-butyl tape. Non-butyl tapes are particularly suitable for this application as they are completely UV stable and keep their integrity for longer. This means that they have many advantages over both butyl and asphalt tapes. In addition to this, it is stable from -40C to +93C with no cracking, peeling, or strength loss.

Our Decking Joist Tape Sizes

NeoTimber® decking joist tape comes in three sizes, all of which comes in 20 linear meter rolls and are designed to cover a wide array of different subframe application and settings. We breakdown each of their applications below:

joist tape

Our most popular solution, this width is designed to fit directly onto the top of a 50mm wide joist, providing a protective layer between the underside of the deck board and the timber joist.

This width is for application on the bottom end of joists that come into direct contact with the ground. The wider adhesive strip wraps around the bottom of the joist and also protects the sides of the joist.

The widest joist tape we offer, ideal for areas of the subframe where ‘joining’ double joists are situated. The 100mm extra-wide decking joist tape offers ultimate protection across a wider surface area.
