In a smart suburb within London’s extensive commuter belt, there is an elegant detached Neo-Georgian home. Built between the wars, it has a long garden with mature plants and shrubs.
The far end of the garden slopes away steeply with a fast-flowing stream and has been given over to trees and shrubs. Closer to the house, the rest of the garden is reserved for dining and relaxing. A sophisticated courtyard of pink and blue natural stone slabs leads to a decked area.
Our client was looking for a reliable alternative to the timber decking they had in place in order to ensure the safety of their grandchildren when they come to visit. The decking was to be used as a base for garden furniture and as edging to the riverbank which forms a part of their garden.

Our Proposal
To create a multi-purpose decking area seating eight people and an adjoined sun trap for relaxing. Following discussions with our NeoTimber® sales team, the customer chose our Antique product as it ties in beautifully with the natural stone slabs.
The planting palette is very much dominated by reds and pinks with a large Japanese Acer and a number of pots and planters overflowing with geraniums. Our Antique decking acts as a perfect neutral canvas to let these shades of red, pink and the purple soft furnishings to really pop.
The customer wanted to keep their existing balusters as they have a weathered rustic look and were still in good condition. It was important therefore that the composite decking they chose blended with the existing wood.
As much of the garden slopes away, it was vital to maximise the space available, by creating a maintenance-free deck. Having found us online, NeoTimber’s 25-year guarantee was a big deciding factor in choosing to work with us.
