A NeoTimber® Composite Deck For A Garden Sun Trap

composite deck

Project Background

As a longstanding approved installer for the brand, Bristol Decking specify NeoTimber® products for a wide variety of landscaping projects. When a client of theirs approached them wanting to make use of a space sandwiched between their house and garage, they had a few ideas in mind. Wanting to exploit the sun-trap, the client and the guys at Bristol Decking agreed to deck the area. Installation of a low-maintenance solution was important as their land dropped significantly in level behind the deck to the next property, meaning any access required for painting or heavy maintenance was out of the question.

The customer wanted a grey deck to complement the whitewashed stucco exterior of their home. A wide variety of sample products were shown to the client for their consideration.

Our Proposal

The customer opted for NeoTimber® stating that there was no noticeable difference in quality between our composite deck boards and those of the more expensive alternatives on the market. The solution offered was seen to be significantly better value for money.

Adrian specified Essential Grey, a traditional composite which weathers naturally to a muted tone. Essential boards are hollow which sufficed for the low-use requirements of the client. The product was installed with a mitred, picture frame edge design. Due to the variation in height across the deck, Adrian installed a step to one side with lighting fitted around the edge inset into the gravel to illuminate the deck at night.

Adrian advised us, the primary selling point for NeoTimber® when discussing with prospects is the quality and the warranty. He said, “The 25-year NeoTimber® warranty often clinches the deal when customers see our quotes”.
